Class of 2021

As students start a new school year, we’re also welcoming new students to FCDO Services this month. We’re very excited to have 42 new learners join our award winning apprenticeship scheme.

The apprentices will undertake training across 12 different disciplines including:  engineering, IT, finance, project management, communications, cyber security, technical security and logistics.

Our trainee and apprenticeship schemes have been running for over 60 years and this year sees the largest intake of apprentices to join in a single year. Many of our long serving colleagues began their careers here as part of the scheme.

The sought-after scheme was put on hold during 2020 due to COVID-19. This year, as in previous years our apprentices will be joining teams and training through a mix of college and on-the-job learning.

When they were first set up, the scheme was predominantly engineering- focused.  However since 2014 it’s been expanded the scope and the scheme now covers training for careers in IT, finance, project management and logistics.

I am very excited to start an apprenticeship with FCDO services. I am looking forward to gaining hands-on experience in my chosen pathway and seeing how a global organisation works. It sounds like an ideal organisation to work for and has a great reputation in regards to work as well as wellbeing and work/life balance which is difficult to find these days. The opportunities the apprenticeship will provide in the future are endless and I hope this will become a long-term career with FCDO Services.
