Our Annual Report and Accounts for 2023/24

FCDO Services has published its Annual Report and Accounts for 2023/24. It was laid before the UK Parliament on 23 July.

It includes our financial records and governance arrangements as a Trading Fund, as well as a summary of our key activities and success stories throughout the year. The report covers the period from 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024.

FCDO Services has continued to proudly be an essential partner to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), providing secure and critical services that underpin the diplomatic network. This includes providing support to other UK Government departments and international partners globally.

Key highlights

In this year’s report, we feature:

  • how we delivered secure IT and technology for His Majesty’s Coronation, while also providing translation services for dignitaries and supporting the celebration across the FCDO with our logistics services
  • our Sensitivity Review Service who have built on their unique position for cross-government digital archive and review services. They have continued to expand their use of Artificial Intelligence tools, helping to speed up the release of sensitive records to The National Archives
  • our work with the Ministry of Defence (MOD), enhancing UK security with the ROCKHOPPER and KRAKEN radar head upgrade programmes. On top of this, we have provided enhanced collaboration and communication tools for the MOD and its international partners, through our development of the JEFNet and HERMES platforms
  • details on how our teams provided crucial assistance to the FCDO, supporting the UK and Australian missions in Mongolia after severe flooding. We have also begun a longer-term collaboration with the FCDO to make the diplomatic global estate more sustainable, working closely with carbon intensive posts
  • our Translation and Interpreting team who have delivered several high-profile translation projects this year. In November 2023, they mobilised quickly to provide interpretation for world leaders at the Artificial Intelligence Safety Summit held at Bletchley Park
